The death occurred peacefully and surrounded by his family and friends at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital on Sunday, February 22, 2009, of Clayton Eric Burke (Hank Slush), age 71 years. Beloved husband for 46 years of Anita Burke (nee Gotell). Loving father of Eric (Sherry) Burke, Alberta; Tommy (Amanda) Burke, Murray River; Peggy (David) McBride, Moncton; and special father to Thane MacDonald and Anthony Blackett. Brother of Vera Murl (O’Brien) and brother-in-law, Cecil Murl. Loving Poppy of Heather, Kevin and Carlee-Lynn Burke. Predeceased by his mother and father, Thomas and Margaret Burke; his sisters, Jean Murl and Mae O’Brien; and his brothers, Sterling Burke and Henry, Francis, Forrest and John O’Brien. Visitation on Wednesday, February 25, 2009, in the MacMillan Room of All Saints Parish, Cardigan, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral mass to be held Thursday, February 26, 2009, at All Saints Parish, Cardigan, at 10:30 a.m. Interment to follow in the parish cemetery. Donations in Clayton’s memory may be made to the All Saints Parish Cemetery Fund and the Humane Society. Funeral arrangements entrusted to the North Shore Funeral Home in Morell.
