Peacefully, surrounded by love, at the Palliative Care Unit of the Prince Edward Home on Sunday, February 22, 2009, of Mr. O. Ross Down, veteran of the Second World War, former postmaster, age 86 years. Grandad is fondly remembered by grandchildren Andrew, Nathan, Marcus and Jonathan Down, Matthew and Kate (Colin MacBeath) MacQuarrie and Scott and Daniel Mackay; sisters Doris (Bert) Dinsmore of Victoria, B.C. and Shirley Sherren of Charlottetown; sisters-in-law Ramona of Montreal, Que.; Audrey of Calgary, Alta.; Carol of Rustico and Betty McLaine of Charlottetown. He was predeceased by parents Augustus and Gladys (Ross) Downe, brothers Don, Gus and Kenny and sister Pauline. Resting at the Cutcliffe Funeral Home from where the funeral service will be held in the funeral home chapel on Thursday at 11 a.m. Interment at a later date in the family plot at Hazelbrook Baptist Cemetery. If so desired, memorial contributions in Ross’ memory may be made to the P.E.I. Cancer Treatment Centre or the Salvation Army.
