Elizabeth (Bessie) Hachey MIRAMICHI, NB - The death of Elizabeth (Bessie) Hachey, widow of James Hachey of Sunnyside Ave., Miramichi, NB, occurred on Thursday, January 1, 2004 at the Miramichi Regional Hospital at the age of 98. Born in Newcastle, she was the daughter of the late Henry and Mary (Howe) Thibodeau. Elizabeth was a graduate of St. Mary's Convent, a member of St. Mary's CWL and Newcastle Friendship Senior Citizens Club. Elizabeth (Bessie) is survived by two daughters, Emily Matheson (Richard) of Miramichi, NB and Sheila Hachey of Miramichi, NB; one grandson, Jimmy Matheson (Cheryl) of Miramichi, NB; and one granddaughter, Anne Reade (Mike) of Riverview, NB; four great grandchildren, Nancy and Jimmy Reade and Katie and John Matheson; and several nieces and nephews. She is predecased by three brothers, Leo, Harry and Jack; three sisters, Anna, Emma and Margaret; and one foster brother, Joe Hogan Thibodeau. The family received visitors at Bell's Funeral Home on Friday, January 2, 2004 from 2 to 4 pm and 7 to 9 pm. Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Saturday at 11am from St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church with Father Sam Diotte officiating. Organist/Soloist was Jacqueline Allain. Active pallbearers were Johnny Adair, Leroy Doiron, Patty Galliah, Bliss Hachey, Donnie Hachey, Wayne Smallwood and great grandsons, John Matheson and Jimmy Reade. Readers were grandson, Jimmy Matheson and Trudy Walsh. Burial will take place in St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church Cemetery later in the spring. As expressions of sympathy, donations may be made to the NB Diabetes Association or to the NB Heart & Stroke Foundation.
