Hazel Carter

Hazel Carter SACKVILLE, NB - The death of Hazel Carter, age 89, of Sackville, occurred at the Sackville Memorial Hospital on Monday, January 19, 2004. Born in Moncton, she was a daughter of the late Fred and Susie (Steeves) Bowser. A graduate of Aberdeen High School, Moncton and NB Teacher's College, Fredericton, she taught in Sackville Junior High School and Dorchester Elementary as well as several rural schools in Albert and Westmorland Counties. She was a life member of the Sackville Baptist WMS and the Sackville UCW. She was a long time member of Fort Beausejour IODE, where she held various offices, including that of Regent. She was a member of the Sackville United Church choir for many years, also a member of Chignecto Presbytery In recent years she was a member of St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church, Sackville. Hazel will be sadly missed by her son, Fred, Sackville, with whom she resided; three daughters, Viola (Edward) Cook, BC, Susie (David Brown) Vincent, Dartmouth and Julie (Leonard) Godin, Hampton, NB; eight grandchildren, Janet (Cook) Duddy and Lynn MacDonald, Patrick Godin, Raynald, Rick and Christopher Fredette, Derek and Roger Cook; several great grandchildren; a sister, Julia (Claudius) Leger, Moncton; sister-in-law, Phyllis Bowser and several nephews and a niece. She was predeceased by her husband, Percy in 1965 and a brother Frank L. Bowser. The remains have been forwarded for cremation. A Memorial service will be held at St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church, Sackville on Friday, January 23, 2004 at 2:30 pm, Rev. Terrence Trites officiating.
