It is with deep sadness and enduring love that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, sister, grandmother and great-grandmother, and friend, Cassie Ruth (Llewelyn) Cannon on February 12, 2009. As she departed this world Ruth was surrounded by family and friends. Born on July 3, 1913 in Sherbrooke, Prince Edward Island, Ruth moved to Victoria, B.C., in the mid 1940's. Victoria continued to be her home until 2002, when Ruth moved to Langley, B.C., to be closer to her family. Predeceased by her sisters, Mildred Olsen and Jean Van Alstine, Ruth will be sadly missed by her brother Charles Llewellyn (Wanda) of Halifax, Nova Scotia, sons, Roger (Hilde), Alan (Gail) John (Mitzi), daughter, Ruth Pepper (Hal), eleven grandchildren and twenty-nine great-grandchildren. During her years in Victoria, Ruth gained many close friends. Ruth loved her garden, and her work selling ladies clothes at Reitmans, Taylors and Grace Wilson. Ruth also volunteered as school treasurer, sat on Anglican Church committees and spent several years helping with Meals on Wheels. During her later years living in Langley, Ruth spent more time with family and her good friend and caregiver Linda Wyatt.
Ruth was a devoted mother, offering unconditional love and support to her four children, their spouses, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Ruth's legacy, the nurturing of important relationships and her courageous character, is evident throughout her family and will be passed on in generations to come. A celebration of Ruth's life was held on February 17th at the Parish of St. George in Langley, B.C.
