Roy Kenneth ‘Ken’ Faulkner, 86, Lake Charlotte, passed away February 22, 2009, in Twin Oaks Memorial Hospital, Musquodoboit Harbour.
Born April 20, 1922, in Upper Lakeville, he was a son of the late Henry and Cora (Blakeney) Faulkner.
He was a veteran of the Second World War.
For 35 years he operated his own flooring business in the Halifax/Dartmouth area until his retirement in 1981. He then moved to Lake Charlotte to enjoy his passions of hunting, fishing, gardening and working in his woodpile.
Ken lovingly enjoyed his family and friends, campfires by the lake and a glass of good red wine.
Surviving are his sons, Harry (Audrey), Baddeck, Larry (Janice), Economy, David (Janete), Lake Charlotte; grandchildren, Heather (Jason), Pugwash, Stephen, South Korea; their mother, Susan Faulkner, Amherst; Kenny (Hilary), Edmonton, Diane (Adam), Dartmouth, Jeffrey and Emily, Lake Charlotte; great-granddaughter, Talia, Dartmouth; sister, Roxy Kidson, Upper Lakeville; sisters-in-law, Jean Turple, Lake Charlotte, Dorothy Smith, Dartmouth; numerous nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his wife of 54 years, Rena (Turple); brother, Arthur; sister, Florence Mitchell; brothers-in-law, Oliver Kidson and Doug Mitchell, Edsel, Calvin and Loyal Turple; sisters-in-law, Kathleen Faulkner and Carol Turple.
Visitation will be held 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. today (Wednesday), in Rowlings Funeral Home, Musquodoboit Harbour. Service 11 a.m. Thursday in St. James Anglican Church, Upper Lakeville. Interment to follow in St. James Church Cemetery, Upper Lakeville, Fr. Paul Findlay officiating.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. James Anglican Church Cemetery, Upper Lakeville.
