Helen J. Matchett MIRAMICHI, NB - The death of Mrs. Helen J. Matchett, widow of Lorne E. Matchett of Miramichi, NB, passed away Sunday, February 15, 2004 at Miramichi Regional Hospital. Born in Chatham, NB, February 20, 1911, she was the daughter of the late John W. and Annie (Ellis) Thomson. She was a homemaker and a member of St James & St John's United Church. She was a member of O.E.S. Prince Charles Chapter #27 Chatham, Life Member of Canadian Association Health Care and Life Member of P.A. of Health Care. She was the recipient of The Senator Clarence Emerson Foundation Award in 1980. She is survived by three daughters, Barbara Waye of Miramichi, Evelyn Mann of Toronto, Marilyn Williams (Bob) of North Bay, ON; two sons, Ronald E. (Norma) Matchett of Miramichi, Carl E. Matchett of Fredericton; one sister, Mrs. Audrey Urquhart of Trail, BC; 21 grandchildren; 31 great grandchildren; nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents; her husband; two sons, Dr. Beverley R.L. Matchett, John K. (Jack) Matchett; one daughter, Arlene MacKinley MacKenzie; sisters, Margaret Taylor, Gladys Rafuse, Ann Dunlop; brothers, Ellis J., Earl H., Arthur killed in Action WWII. At the request of the family there will be no visitation at the funeral home. The Memorial Service will be held Saturday, February 21, 2004 at 2 p.m. from St James & St John's United Church, Miramichi, with Rev. Sandrabelle Rogers officiating, assisted by Rev. Ron Feltmate. Burial in Riverside Cemetery, Chatham, NB in the spring. At the request of the family donations to a memorial of ones choice would be appreciated.
