Florence Ann Coates PETITCODIAC, NB - Florence Ann Coates, age 90, of Corey Avenue, Petitcodiac passed away peacefully at her home on Tuesday, March 23, 2004 surounded by her loving family. Born February 1, 1914 in Lewis Mountain, she was a daughter of the late Duncan and Elizabeth (Killam) Henry. She was a member of the Petitcodiac Baptist Church, the Women's Missionary Society, the Order of the Eastern Star, Petitcodiac Senior Citizens Club, Petitcodiac Women's Institute, and the NB Retired Teachers Association. A retired teacher with many years of service in Salisbury Schools, her career began in a one room school house in Manhurst where she met her future husband, Ward Coates. Florence is survived by her daughters, Edith (Michael) Forestell of Toronto, Mildred (Ralph) Keith of Lower Ridge, Anne Coates of Summerside and Janet Coates Mason of Petitcodiac; grandchildren, Judith, Carol, Julie, Stephen, Vance, Jonathan, Chris, Jim, Shelley and Libby; 14 great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, and a special grand daughter and care giver Betty Keith. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, H. Ward Coates in 1989; her sons, Danny and Jamie; her daughter, Margaret Hicks in 2004 and grandchildren, Sheila Hicks and Marty Keith; brothers, Biard, Clarke, Elbridge and Harold; sisters, Tina (Gillies), Margaret (Lewis), and Mildred (Hoar). Resting at Armstrong's Funeral Home, Petitcodiac, with visitation on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9pm. The funeral will be held on Friday, March 26, 2004 at 2pm from the Petitcodiac Baptist Church, Rev. G. Cook officiating. Interment will be held in the Anagance Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Friends of the Moncton Hospital or the memorial of the donor's choice would be appreciated by the family.
