Beatrice "Bea" Mattinson SPRINGHILL, NS - Beatrice "Bea" Mattinson, 88 years of age, of High Crest Nursing Home, Springhill, passed away on Monday, March 29, 2004 at the home. Born in Amherst, she was a daughter of the late Arthur and Bertha (Estabrooks) Babcock. Bea was a member of the Amherst Lioness Club, First Baptist Church and the Greta Grimmer W.M.S. She had worked at The Two Barkers, Sears and the Interprovincal School for the Deaf. Bea is survived by her sons, James Canton (Mayola) of Indian Point, Stephen Canton (fiancée Barbara Barton) of Springhill; a brother, Trueman Babcock of Moncton; eight grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Besides her parents, Bea was predeceased by her first husband, George Canton; second husband, Loran Mattinson; sisters, Greta and Lena Babcock; a brother, Ralph and an infant brother, Leonard. Bea's remains are resting at the Cumberland Memorial Chapel in Amherst with visiting hours today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Her funeral service will be held at the First Baptist Church on Wednesday, March 31, 2004 at 2 p.m. with Rev.
