Olive Sears
Olive Sears MIDGIC, NB - Olive Mabel Sears, age 92, of Midgic, N.B., passed away on Sunday, May 2, 2004 at the Sackville Memorial Hospital, Sackville, N.B. Born in Cookville, N.B. on November 17, 1911, she was the daughter of the late William and Mabel (McFee) Kaye. Olive was a member of the Midgic Baptist Church and was always involved in community work in some way as she was always willing to help with whatever she could. She loved to make quilts and enjoyed knitting and crocheting. Olive is survived by eight daughters, Lillian (Frank) Neal of Hamilton, Ontario, Gertrude Wheaton of Midgic, N.B., Margaret (Vincent) Hicks of Saint John, N.B., Marlene (Ensley) Hicks of Saint John, N.B., Madonna (Lewis) Wells of Sackville, N.B., Dollie (Leslie) Fillmore of Sackville, N.B., Carolyn (Edmund) Leblanc of Midgic, N.B., and Debbie Arsenault of Amherst, N.S.; six sons, Vaughn (Lucy) Kaye of St. Margarets, N.B., Weldon Hicks of Midgic, N.B., Bernard (Nancy) Sears of Midgic, N.B., Frank (Elaine) Sears of Midgic, N.B. Perry Sears of Pointe de Bute, N.B. and Garnet (Eleanor) Sears of Saint John, N.B.; one brother, Arnold Kaye of Truro, N.S.; one sister, Hazel (Reginald) Estabrooks of Sackville, N.B.; daughterin-law, Doreen Steeves of Midgic, N.B.; thirty nine grandchildren; seventy four great grandchildren and seven great great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her first husband, Weldon Hicks in 1932; second husband, Cedric Sears in 1992 daughter, Yuvonne Sears (1939); son, Thomas Sears (2004); five brothers, Chester, Ernest, Courtney, Cedric and Otis and two sisters, Eunice and Elsie. Arrangements are entrusted to Campbell's Funeral Home, 89 Bridge Street, Sackville, N.B. (364-8188). Visitation will take place on Tuesday, May 4, 2004 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM and on Wednesday, May 5, 2004 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM from Campbell's Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held from the Midgic Baptist church on Thursday, May 6, 2004 at 2 PM with Pastor Hal Lowther officiating. Burial will follow in the Midgic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in Olive's memory may be made to the Midgic Baptist Church or a charity of ones choice.
