Otis A. Steeves

Otis A. Steeves 1932-2004 Otis A. Steeves, 72, of Hillsborough passed away on May 10, 2004 at the Moncton City Hospital after a lengthy illness. Otis was born in Salem, Albert Co., NB, on April 25, 1932, the son of the late Arnold and Grace (Wallace) Steeves. He was a custodian and bus driver at the Hillsborough School for several years before his retirement. When Otis's health allowed him he enjoyed farming and was a member of the Hillsborough Volunteer Fire Department. He had a very quiet demeanor but always enjoyed a good laugh. You could find Otis in his garage most of the time, making things was what he really enjoyed. He also cherished times spent with family and many friends. He was a special person who will be sadly missed by all who knew him. He will be deeply missed by his loving wife, Verna (Porter) Steeves; his daughter Colleen Steeves Sutherland (Bert) of Dartmouth; his son, Roland Steeves (Zsuzsi) of Salem; two sisters, Hazel Irving (Guy) of Hillsborough, Edith Steeves of Riverview; sister-in-law, Kay Steeves of Hillsborough; also by his step-grandchildren, Corrine Sutherland, Trevor Sutherland, Hanna Downey (Peter), Roy Hill; and two step great-grandchildren, Emily and Clyde. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by two brothers, Bruce and Orris; and a sister, Erma Hopper. Honoring Otis's own wishes, there will be no visitation. The Funeral Service will be held at the Albert County Funeral Home on Wednesday, May 12, 2004 at 2pm with Rev. Jack Allen officating and Pastor Leonard Geldart assisting. Interment will be held in the Grey's Island Cemetery, Hillsborough. Donations to the Friends of the Moncton Hospital would be greatly appreciated by the family.
