Phyllis Edith Parker passed away at the Drew Nursing Home on Wednesday, February 25, 2009, following a long and courageous battle with dementia and cancer, at the age of 83. Born in Kingston, P.E.I., she was the daughter of the late Lloyd and Muriel (Abbott) Godfrey. Phyllis worked as a school teacher in P.E.I. before moving to Moncton to work at the T. Eaton Co. as an accounting clerk. She was an active member of Central United Church where she taught Sunday school and was a member of the Hazel Garland Unit of the UCW. She loved to garden and volunteered at The Moncton Hospital. She is survived by her daughter, Elizabeth Parker of Dieppe; son, David (Kim) of Moncton; grandson, Phillip; brother, Stan Godfrey (Jean) of Charlottetown; sister-in-law, Audrey Godfrey of Cornwall, P.E.I.; as well as several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her husband of 50 years, Doug; brother, Harold Godfrey; sister, Evelyn Rogers (Tom). There will be no visitation prior to the memorial service to be held at Fair Haven Funeral Home at 3 p.m. on Friday, February 27, 2009, with Rev. Dr. James MacDonald and Rev. Dr. Philip G.A. Griffin-Allwood officiating. A reception will follow the service in the Garden View Room of the funeral home.
