William A. Mitton PORTAGE VALE, NB - The death of William A. Mitton, of Portage Vale and formerly of Sackville, NB occurred in Moncton on Thursday June 17th, 2004 after a courageous battle with cancer. Born in Sackville on January 26th, 1939 he was the son of the late Sanford and Myrtle (Hicks) Mitton. An avid outdoorsman Bill loved to hunt and fish and spend time at both the camp and cottage with his family doing so. He also loved sports and and was very proud of coaching. Touching the lives of many of Sackville's youth by coaching both baseball and hockey. He leaves to mourn his wife Gloria (Wry), of Portage Vale; sons Jody (Brenda) and James (Cindy), both of Moncton; his daughter Jocelyn (Michael), of Amherst NS. He will be sadly missed by his grandchildren Steven, Kenneth, Justin, Andrew and Samantha Mitton and Natasha and Brandon Laurette. He is also survived by his brothers; Carl, of AB, Ed and Reg, both of BC; sisters; Jean MacDonald, of AB, and Carolyn Richards of Sackville, as well as several nieces and nephews. Cremation has taken place, a Memorial Service will be held from Amherst Wesleyan Church, 100 Spring St. Amherst NS. on Sunday, June 20th, 2004 at 3:00 PM with Pastor, Rev. Raymond R Fancy officiating. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Canadian Diabetic Society.
