It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved mother, grandmother and friend, Evelyn Grace (Nelson) Campbell on Wednesday, Feb. 25, 2009, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney.
Born in Sydney Mines on January 4, 1948, she was the daughter of the late Earl and Una (Foote) Nelson. Evelyn attended the Salvation Army, and was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Auxiliary, Branch 008, Sydney Mines.
Evelyn was a loving mother, grandmother and a wonderful friend. She was always there to lend an ear or helping hand to anyone in need. She gave us all her unconditional love.
Evelyn is survived by her former husband, Douglas Campbell; son, Blaine (Michelle); daughters, Julie Ann and Natalie (Bobby) and her grandchildren, T.J. Marsh, Morgan Harris and Curtis and Kelsey LeBlanc. She is also survived by sisters, Mary Nelson, Mildred (Brian) Keeping, Marion Gerrow and Winnie (Clevey) Hollett; a brother, Bobby Nelson and many nieces and nephews and their families who were very dear to her heart. Evelyn is also survived by dear friends, Eileen Lewis and Dollsie Jessome.

Besides her parents, Evelyn was predeceased by brothers, Willis, Charlie, James, Earl and sisters, Margaret, Pauline and Una in infancy.
Visitation for Evelyn Campbell will be held in the J. M. Jobes Funeral Home, 635 Main St., Sydney Mines, on Saturday, Feb. 28, 2009, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The funeral service to celebrate her life will take place on Sunday at 3 p.m. in the funeral home chapel, with Major Daniel Roode officiating.
