Lloyd Everette Keating GRAND MANAN, NB - Lloyd Everett Keating, 95, of Grand Manan and formerly of Moncton passed away peacefully after a lengthy illness at the Grand Manan Nursing Home. He was the son of the late John and Myrtle (Killiam) Keating of Moncton. Mr. Keating graduated from Aberdeen High School, attended Dalhousie College and then attended Chicago YMCA College. He served one year as a director of Physical Ed at Mount Royal YMCA, another year as director at Moncton YMCA, followed as director at the Halifax School for the Blind. He enrolled in University of NB Law School, in Saint John, graduating in 1937. Returning to Moncton he joined the firm of Allen and Allen for five years. In 1943 he took over the law practice of W.E. McMonagle. In 1957 he was appointed clerk of the Supreme Court for the Circuit Court in Westmorland County, and also served as Provincial Prosecuter in Moncton, Shediac, Buctouche and surrounding areas. He was treasurer of the Westmorland Progressive Conservative Association.. Later he served on the executive of the Moncton Liberal Association and also on City Council for several terms. He retired in 1986 after practicing law for over fifty years. He was a member of the Upland's Baptist Church, Salisbury Road, and North Head Baptist Church, Grand Manan, a life member of the NB Barristers Association and the Moncton Flying Club. He was an avid tennis player and a talented pianist and had enjoyed performing and producing several concerts and recitals over the years. Mr. Keating is survived by his wife, Della B. (Huntley) (Daggett) Keating; four step sons, Russell(Ida) of B.C., Claude (Helen) of Seal Cove, Layne (Helena) of B.C., William (Linda) of Grand Manan; one step daughter, Bonnie (Allen) Benson of Saint John; nephew, John (Pat) Keating; nephew, Frank (Jan) Keating; neice, Ann (Ron) Porter, 14 step grand children, 20 step great grand children. Mr. Keating was predeceased by his first wife, Jerri (Wilson) Keating of Saint John, who passed away in 1970; one nephew, Robert and one step grand child, Benjamin Benson. Visitation for family Tuesday 2 to 4p.m. and friends 7 to 9p.m. at Ells Funeral Home, 1199 Rte776, Grand Manan. The funeral service will be held from North Head Baptist Church, Wednesday, July 21, at 2PM with Rev. Ron Ford officiating assisted by Rev. Earl Hodgkins, Interment to follow in the family plot Hillside Cemetery, Seal Cove. Donations may be made to the charity of your choice.
