John Rogerson

John Rogerson SACKVILLE, NB - The death of John Rogerson, age 93, of Sackville and formerly of Baie Verte Road, NB, occurred at the Drew Nursing Home on Wednesday, August 18, 2004. Born in Ecclefechan, Scotland, he was a son of the late Adam and Agnes (Richardson) Rogerson. John immigrated in 1927 from Lockerbie, Scotland to Baie Verte Road, where he lived until moving to Sackville in 1987. A veteran of WW II he served in the Canadian Army from 1939 to 1946 as tank gunner with the 8th NB Hussars in England, Italy, France, Belgium and Holland. He was a member of the Sackville Branch No. 26 of the Royal Canadian Legion. A church elder for 45 years, he was a member of St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church, Sackville and formerly St. James Presbyterian Church, Port Elgin. He worked as a carpenter and plumber prior to retirement. John will be sadly missed by his wife of 58 years, the former Henderkien (Hennie) Ebels, Sackville; a son, David (Carol), Moncton; three daughters, Agnes Holland, Sackville, Margaret Flynn, Halifax and Audrey (Stuart) Sullivan, Port Hawkesbury, NS; six grandchildren and one great grandchild; nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, David and a sister, Jean. The remains are resting at the Jones Funeral Home, 70 Bridge Street., Sackville with visitation Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. The funeral service will be held in the St. James Presbyterian Church, Port Elgin on Saturday, August 21, 2004 at 2 pm, Rev. Ruth Houtby officiating. Burial in the Fernwood Cemetery, Port Elgin. Sackville Branch # 26 Royal Canadian Legion will hold a memorial service on Friday evening at 7:30 pm at the funeral home. www.jonesfuneralhome.ca
