Violet Emma Szigety
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Violet Emma Szigety. Violet was born in Moose Jaw, SK, on October 6, 1917, and passed away in the Mankota nursing home on February 20, 2009, at the age of 91. She was predeceased by her husband Joe (1978); her son Harvey (1971); sister Agnes and half sisters Pearl and Ilda. Violet spent her life working at the farm. Violet is survived by her children, Melvin (Lylles), Gloria (Cliff), Penny and Randy (Mary Jane) as well as six grandchildren and four great grandchildren. A funeral service was held at the Calvary United Church, Mankota, SK, on Wednesday, February 25, 2009, at 2:00 pm. with Ruby Sayers officiating. Eulogist was grandson Jaret Hofer. Pallbearers were Violets grandchildren, Cody Szigety, Mitchell Szigety, Brooke Szigety, Tammy Mawer, Rachelle Hofer and Kelly de Nevers. Memorial tributes in Violet’s’ memory may be made to the Mankota Health Auxiliary or the Calvary United Church, Mankota, SK. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Piche-Hawkins-Grondin Funeral Chapels, Assiniboia & Gravelbourg.
