Shawnda Joy Phillips RN

Shawnda Joy Phillips RN 1952 - 2004 Shawnda Phillips, 52, of Moncton, NB, passed away at her residence due to a brain aneurysm on Wednesday, September 22, 2004. Shawnda was born in Moncton on April 15, 1952, a daughter of the late Harry and Evelyn (Powers) Phillips. She was a very loving and caring person who showed a great passion for all the many endeavors of her life. She graduated from the Moncton Hospital School of Nursing in 1973 and her nursing career led her to Edmonton, Jasper, Ottawa, and Halifax, before returning home to continue at the Moncton Hospital for the past many years, working in the Surgical Intensive Care Unit and on 5400 unit. She was involved in the Precptorship program at the hospital and enjoyed very much teaching the new graduate nurses her well - honed nursing skills. Her Nurses Alumnae were important to her and she organized many reunions for her class mates. Volunteerism involved her in The Look Good Feel Better program and the Katherine Wright Wellness Celebration committee, She found time for a Mary Kay Cosmetics business and was dedicated to helping others through the gift of healing touch. She will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by all of her family, her fiancé Tom, and especially her nieces, nephews, grandnieces and nephew who adored her as well as by her many friends and coworkers. Shawnda is survived by her fiancé, Tom Benham of Halifax; sisters, Janice Chapman (Donald) of Hillsborough, Teresa Calvert (Phil) of Moncton; brothers, Stuart Phillips (Shirley) of Moncton, Bill Phillips (Karen) of Winnipeg, Tim Phillips (Lyne) of Moncton. Resting at Fair Haven Funeral Home with visitation on Saturday, September 25 from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m, and Sunday, September 26, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. A celebration of life service will be held on Monday, September 27 at 2:00 pm in the chapel of Fair Haven Funeral Home, Rev. Ron Maund officiating. A reception for Shawnda's friends and family will follow in the Garden View Reception Room of the Funeral Home. Memorial donations in Shawnda's memory may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation or the charity of the donor's choice.
