Eileen Mary White 1915 - 2004 Eileen Mary White, of the Kenneth E. Spencer Memorial Home passed away at her residence on Wednesday, September 29, 2004 at the age of 89. Born in Saint John, NB, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Cecile (Martin) Carr. She was self employed, having many businesses in Saint John and then in Moncton, including Acadian Taxi and Acadian Launderette. She later sold Acadian Taxi to White Cab where she worked until her retirement. She was the first female taxi driver in Canada. A member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church; she belonged to the Bridgedale Senoirs Group of which she was the past treasurer and the Bridgedale Incredibles. She is survived by two daughters, Elizabeth "Bett" Cormie (Laura Huffaker) of Riverview and Patricia Grasse (Lester) of Keswick Ridge, NB; a son, John "Jack" White (Brenda) of Salisbury; daughter-in-law, Alice Ayles; a sister Elizabeth "Betty" Kelly of Ottawa, ON; 11 grandchildren, several great grandchildren; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her husband William "Bill" White; a son Ronald White; two sisters, Constance Howell and Mary White; three brothers, Gerald, Joseph and John Carr. Resting at Riverview Funeral Home, 214 Pine Glen Rd., on Sunday, October 3, 2004 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. Funeral mass will be held at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church on Monday, October 4, 2004 at 10:00 am with Fr. Phil Mulligan officiating. Interment will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, Saint John, NB. Donations made to the Alzheimer's Society would be appreciated by her family.
