Joseph Alvin Richard SAINT JOHN, NB - The death of Mr. Joseph Alvin Richard, of Saint John, NB, occurred on Saturday, October 9, 2004 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in 1929 in Saint John, he was the son of the late Alfred and Josephine (Chaisson) Richard. Alvin started his working career as a Merchant Marine, worked at the Port of Saint John and Kelly's Garage and retired in 1991 from the Saint John Dry Dock as a machinist. He is survived by his loving wife of 14 years, Marie LeGassie; his sons, Gary (Betty) of Moncton and Larry (Brenda) of Saint John; daughter, Nora Lynch (Terry) of Ontario; brothers, Clarence (Florence), Eldan (Hilda) of Ontario, James (Mary), Alfred (Sandra) and Joseph (Gail) all of Saint John; sisters, Betty Richard of Saint John, Nora Kane (Joe) of Kingston Peninsula and Yvonne Perry (Buddy) of Saint John; five grandchildren, Tanya, Jenn, Melissa, Tracey and Melanie; three great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his first wife, Margaret (Dugay); infant daughter, Laura Lee; and brothers, Wilfred and Danny. Resting at Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road, Saint John (6462424) with visitations on Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated from St. Ann's Church on Tuesday, October 12, 2004 at 2:00 pm. Interment will take place in St. Joseph's Cemetery.
