Harold Edwin Hosford
Harold E. Hosford 1921 - 2004 The death of Harold Edwin Hosford, 83, of Cameron Arms, Moncton, occurred early Wednesday, October 27, 2004 following open heart surgery at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Trout Brook, Harold was ever proud of his Miramichi roots. He was the only child of the late William John and Mary Ethel (Nowlan) Hosford. Surviving is his sweetheart for 63 years and dear wife for nearly 59 years, the former Ellen Mills, and two children: Sandra Devlin (her partner, Mike Harpell) and Mike "Hoss" Hosford (his partner Betty Holt) all of Moncton. Also surviving are four grandchildren, Shonda Secord (Pierre Rondeau) of Rosemere, Que., Matthew Secord (Annette) of Halifax, Kelley Hosford and Jill Hosford, both of Moncton; as well as three greatgrandchildren, Ariel Rondeau and William Roudeau and Lauren Secord. Left to mourn are, former son-in-law, Don Secord of Halifax and former daughter-in-law, Pam Hosford of Moncton, as well as several cherished firstcousins, sisters and brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews and extended family. Harold was a charter member of St. Paul's United Church, Riverview and one of the original homeowners in early Riverview where he was active in politics and service clubs in the fledgling suburb. He summered for more than two decades at their cottage in Port Howe, NS. For several years he was a volunteer member of the Greater Moncton Planning Commission and an active curler at the MCA and Beaver Curling Club. He worked at Swift's Canadian in Moncton and Saint John; held management positions with Speedy Propane in Moncton and Charlottetown; was President of Moncton Utility Gas, and worked as a consultant for the Greater Moncton Sewage Commission until retirement 11 years ago. Harold served with the Royal Canadian Artillery overseas in W.W.II from 1942-1945. He was also a member of the Riverview Veteran's and Armed Forces Association. Visitation will be at the Riverview Funeral Home, Pine Glen Road on Friday, October 29, 2004 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. The funeral service will be held at Riverview Funeral Home on Saturday, October 30, 2004 at 3:00 pm with Rev. Shawn Redden and Rev. Hugh Farquhar officiating. The Riverview Veterans and Armed Forces Association will hold a Veterans service at the Riverview Funeral Home on Friday, October 29, 2004 at 6:45 pm. Interment will be in Fairhaven Memorial Gardens. Donations in Harold's memory made to the Friends of the Moncton Hospital Foundation or to the charity of the donors choice would be appreciated by his family.
