Marcelle Alice Ahern 1924 - 2004 BURLINGTON, ON - It is with deep sorrow that the family of Marcelle Alice Ahern (nee Martin), announce their Mother's passing, during her 80th year. Marcelle was the daughter of the late J. William and Ernestine (Theriault) Martin of King Street, Moncton. Marcelle was a graduate of the former Hotel Dieu de L'Assomption (Dr. Georges -L. Dumont Hospital) School of Nursing class of 1947. Her nursing career offered her a variety of opportunities. She, along with her late sister Marie, did private duty nursing for several years. She then assumed the position of Night Supervisor at the Dumont before accepting an opening in the Gastro-Interology Department with Dr. Daoust. Marcelle also became an instructor in the Registered Practical Nursing Dept. with the N.B. Institute of Technology in Moncton. During this time, Marcelle found the time and energy to begin a business, which became Central Answering Service. She became a member of the Board of Directors of CAMX. Shortly after relocating to Burlington, ON, Marcelle was diagnosed with Alzheimer's, but her strong spirit enabled her to stay at home and valiantly battle the disease, until her passing on December 3, 2004. She leaves to mourn, her daughter, Marlene Louise Ahern, with whom she resided; a son, Martin Edward Ahern (Carol); and grandchildren, Jeffery and Jennifer, all of Burlington, ON; a sister, Germaine Woods (Bert) of Moncton; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, J. Edward Ahern; two sisters, Laurette Martin and Mary-Louise (Jim) Connors; and her only brother, Edmund Martin (Stella) formerly of Caraquet. Visitation will be held at Tuttle Bros. Funeral Home, 171 Lutz Street, Moncton, on Tuesday, December 7, 2004 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Bernard's Roman Catholic Church on Wednesday, December 8, 2004 at 10:00 am.
