Barbara Arsenault, 56, passed away Saturday, Feb. 28, 2009, at the MacGillivray Guest Home Sydney.
Born in Sydney, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Agnes (Campbell) Johnston.
She was a member of Immaculate Heart parish, Mira Road. For a while she was employed at Smith’s Bakery in Ashby and then later she was bakery manager at Sobeys. Barbara loved music and dancing and she enjoyed the company of her family and friends.
She will be sadly missed by her husband, Bernie; her daughter, Leasa and; son, Trevor. Also left to mourn are her sisters, Margaret ‘Mickey’ (Frank) Kokocki, Sydney, Georgina (George) Gale, Sydney, Joanne (Brian) MacDonald, Ontario, Raylene (Paul) Drysdale, Sydney, Earlene (Joe) Landry, Sydney, Rose (Kevin) MacDonald, Glace Bay; and her brothers, Gary (Maggie), Ontario, Thomas (Gail) Bras d’Or, Joey, Ontario, and Cecil (Chris) Ontario.
Funeral mass will be celebrated Wednesday, March 4 at 2 p.m. at St. Anthony Daniel Church with Fr. Donald MacGillivary officiating. Family will be at the church one hour before the service on Wednesday to greet friends. Burial in Resurrection Cemetery, Sydney Forks.
Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Society.
