We regret to announce the passing of Jackie Cooke, 74, on Saturday, Feb. 28, 2009, at the Northside General Hospital.
Born in Sydney Mines, he was the son of the late Francis and Lillian (Steele) Cooke.
He was a member of St. Pius X parish, Sydney Mines.
Jackie worked in coal mines in Grand Cache, Alta., and Cape Breton until he retired in 1997.
He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Thelma Jane (Halliday) Cooke; his daughter, Ian; son, Gerald (Helen); and a sister, Linda (Jackie) Hurd. He will be sadly missed by his grandchildren, Cheyenne and Kelly; and his great-grandchildren, MacKenzie and Madison.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his brother Leo.
There will be no visitation. Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of J.M. Jobes Funeral Home, 635 Main St., Sydney Mines. The burial will be held at a later date.
