
Karl E. Smith
Karl E. Smith 1940 - 2004 Karl E. Smith, of Riverview, passed away at The Moncton Hospital on Monday, December 27, 2004 at the age of 64 years. Born in Berryton, he was the son of the late Willard C. and Marguerite Beryl (Steeves) Smith. Karl was a sales consultant for Colpitts the Stationer for over 30 years before his retirement. He was a member of the Bethel Presbyterian Church and was a member of the Men's Group, Kirk Session, the Board of Trustees, and also served as Treasurer of the Church. Karl and his wife Mary Lou were founding members of the local Foster Parents Association and he served as its President. He is also Past President of the Provincial Foster Parents Association and has been involved as a Foster Parent for over 30 years. Karl was also Past President of the Hub City Kampers, and was also the acting President of the New Brunswick Cemetery Association. He is survived by his wife Mary Lou (Marshall) Smith; daughters, Kimberley Smith-Allard (Steven) of Ottawa, Joanne "Jodi" Rector of Riverview, and Nancy Smith of Burlington, ON; son, Stephen A. Smith of Saint John; five grandchildren, Robyn, Brittany, Brianna, Julia and Nathan; a foster son, Jean Duguay (Wanda) and foster daughter, Sara; and by aunts, uncles and cousins. Visiting will be at the Riverview Funeral Home, 214 Pine Glen Road, Riverview, on Thursday, December 30, 2004 from 3 to 5 pm and 7 to 9 pm. Funeral Service will be held at Bethel Presbyterian Church, Riverview, on Friday, December 31, 2004 at 11:00 am with Rev. Charles Cook officiating. Interment will be in Berryton Cemetery. Donations made to Bethel Presbyterian Church Fund, The International Red Cross-Southeast Asia Tidalwave & Earthquake Relief Fund, the Berryton Cemetery Fund or the memorial of the donor's choice would be appreciated by Karl's family.
