Sr. Anne (Rita Ursula) Timmons, 105, died at Parkstone Enhanced Care in Halifax on February 28, 2009.
Born in Ingonish, Cape Breton, she was a daughter of the late Angus and Jessie (Currie) Timmons. She entered the Sisters of Charity in Halifax in 1922 and made her Religious Profession in 1925.
Sister Anne taught school for over 50 years in Nova Scotia, British Columbia and in the United States.
Sister continued to work as a reading specialist in North Sydney and New Waterford, N.S. in a volunteer capacity for the next 20 years, prior to retiring to the Mount in Halifax in 1995. She remained active in her retirement years with visiting the sick and the ministry of prayer.
She is survived by many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews and their families.
She was predeceased by brothers, Adrian, Cletus, Sid, Leo, Russell; sisters, Viola, Clare, Agnes, Victoria (Sister Mary Huberta, Sister of Charity), Cecelia and Ursula.
The body will be at Caritas Residence with visitation today (Tuesday), March 3, 2009, 3-7 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday, March 4, 2009 at 10 a.m. in the Immaculate Conception Chapel, Caritas Residence. Burial will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Lower Sackville, N.S.
