It is with great sadness that we the family announce the passing of Annice Locke, 90, of Glace Bay, formerly of Birkley Street, Monday, March 2, 2009, at the Seaview Manor.
Born in Louisbourg, Annice was the daughter of Dan W. MacDonald and Margaret Fiander.
Annice was a homemaker and member of St. Paul’s Presbyterian Church in Glace Bay. Annice was also a longtime member of St. Paul’s Service Club and Morrison Home and School. Annice took great pride in her family, entertaining friends with her cooking and baking, and loved her summer home in Trout Brook, Mira.
Annice is survived by daughters, Myrna (Clarence) Mmiller and Coleen Locke-MacLeod, both of Glace Bay; son, Bill (Diane), Glace Bay; sisters, Mary MacQuarrie, Anna Lloyd Lamb, both of Glace Bay, Willa Clarke, California; and sister-in-law, Sanda Locke, Glace Bay. Annice is also survived by seven grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren and two step great-grandchildren.
Annice was predeceased by her husband, Thomas W. Locke in 1971, infant son, one grandson, Brian G. MacLeod in 2004, sisters, Kathryn Willett, Halifax, and Dorothy MacKenzie, Dominion.
Visitation for the late Annice Locke will be held at Patten Funeral Home, 71 Union St., Glace Bay, 849-7520, Thursday, March 5 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral services will be held Friday, March 6 at St. Paul’s Presbyterian Church, Glace Bay, at 11 a.m. with Rev. Michael Henderson officiating. Reception to follow. Interment to take place at a later date.
Donations in Annice’s memory can be made to St. Paul’s Church or the Seaview Manor.
