O’Connell: Ida Maye, 83, of Johnson’s H.A. Manor, Church Street Truro, passed away Monday, March 2, 2009, in the Colchester Regional Hospital Truro. Born in Stewiacke East, Colchester Co., she was a daughter of the late Benjamin and Janet (Grant) O’Connell. Ida was a faithful employee of Stanfield’s Limited Truro for 38 years. She enjoyed socializing and taking part in the activities at the manor. She attended St. James Presbyterian Church Truro where she was a member. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Surviving are several nieces, nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews. Ida was predeceased by brothers, Jim, Ben, Smith and a sister, Mary. No visitation by request. Funeral service will be held 2pm Friday, March 6, in the Mattatall ~ Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street Truro, with Dr. Brian Ross officiating. A reception will follow in the funeral home. Interment will be held at a later date in the South Branch Cemetery, South Branch.
