Hicks, Violet Hester (1918-2009) beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 28th with her family by her side. Violet and her husband Wesley lived and farmed in the Marquis District for 60 years. Violet was a gentle soul who always saw the good in people. She had a witty sense of humour and never-ending patience. Vi took life one day at a time with a sense of simple optimism. She loved to bake, especially pies, and always wanted you to stay for supper. In her early years she was a seamstress at Joyner’s and continued to sew until her 91st birthday. Everyone in the family has a treasure that was sewn or touched by her hands. Her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the love of her life and she always looked forward to their visits. Violet was predeceased by her husband, Wesley; her sister, Jean; brothers: Jim, Doug, Howard and Melvin. She is survived by her sister, Oriel; brother, Stewart and her five children: Tracy (Shiva), Aubrey (Brenda), Calvin (Debbie), Neil (Pat) and Ila (Barry), eleven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews. The family has celebrated Violet’s life in a private service.
Thanks mom, grandma, and great-grandma. You are in our hearts forever.
