It is with heartfelt sadness we announce the passing of our beloved mother and grandmother, Mary Elizabeth ‘Betty’ Anthis, 74, a resident of Miners Memorial Manor, Sydney Mines, on Tuesday, March 3, 2009.
Born in Barrie, Ont., she was the daughter of the late James and Olive MacLeod.
Betty loved knitting and playing bingo and spending time with family and friends. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, and the last surviving member of her immediate family.
She is survived by her two daughters, Cheryl (Leo) Robinson, Ingonish, Kim Sederquest, Sydney Mines; and one son, Nick Anthis, Ingonish; seven grandchildren, Shelly, Diane, Nicholas, Nick, Keith, Michael, Leah; 10 great-grandchildren, Robert, Luke, Zoe, Santia, Lydia, Carter, Sabastian, Yurik, Alexandra and Nicholi.
She was predeceased by her brothers, Gordon and Wally, and a sister, Madeline.
Visitation for Betty will be held from 7-9 p.m. Friday in the W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant St., North Sydney. A funeral service to be held 11 a.m. Saturday in the funeral home chapel with Charlie MacGuigan officiating.
Memorial donations may be made to the Nova Scotia Lung Association or a charity of choice.
