Velma Wade

Velma Wade Velma Wade, 68, wife of Victor Ross, of Moncton, passed away Thursday, August 11, 2005 at the Dr. Georges-L. Dumont Hospital. Born April 4, 1937 in Tracadie, she was the daughter of the late Arthur Wade and Yvonne Losier. At the young age of 17, Velma left Sheila to enter Les Religieuses Hospitalières de Saint-Joseph. A graduate of St-Joseph School of Nursing in Campbellton, she worked in several NB Hospitals: Campbellton, Lamèque, Edmundston, Bathurst, and Tracadie. Following advanced studies at l'Université de Moncton and Boston University, she left her religious life to teach nursing at l'Université de Moncton. She later became director of the school of nursing and retired after 24 years of teaching. Following her retirement, she became a volunteer for the Canadian Cancer Society, and worked for the development of a provincial centre specializing in breast cancer. Besides her husband, Victor Ross, she is survived by her step-children, David (Micheline Babin) of Dartmouth, NS, Annie (Alain Jacques) and their children, Madeleine, Juliette, and Raphaël of St-Lazare, QC, Nadine (Roger Ouellette) and their children, JeanClaude and Alexandre of Campbellton; three sisters, Ellen (late Eugène Girouard) of Moncton, Gloria (James Curry) of Rivière-du-Portage, and RoseMarie (Jean-Paul Doiron) both of Tracadie-Sheila; three brothers, Finton of Grande-Anse, Donald and Raymond (Blondine Robichaud) both of TracadieSheila; her nieces and nephews, Yoland Girouard (Mélanie Hunt) and their children, Marc, Éric, Alec, and Liam of Grande-Prairie, Alberta, Carmen Girouard (Jean-Marc Delaney) and their children, Samuel, and Marissa of Moncton, Marlene Curry (Marcel Haché) and their children, Renelle and Sophie of Rivière-du-Portage, Paul Curry (Evelyne Breau) and their children, Isaac and Kevin of Rivière-du-Portage, Mélissa Doiron of Tracadie-Sheila, Brian Wade of Tracadie-Sheila, Véronique Wade (Dominique Gallien) and their children, Angélique and Antoine of Grande-Anse, Karine Wade of Moncton, Zoé Wade of Tracadie-Sheila. Besides her parents, she is also predeceased by two halfbrothers, Elmer and Arnold Wade. Visitation Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Frenette Funeral Home, 88 Church Street, Moncton (858-1900), Monday from 1 p.m. until time of departure (1:45). The Funeral Mass will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, August 15, 2005 at Notre-Dame-de-la-Paix Roman Catholic Church, Murphy Avenue, Moncton. Interment will be in Our Lady of Calvary Cemetery, Dieppe.
