Ian Gregory Peter MacFarlane

Ian Gregory Peter MacFarlane 1950 - 2005 SURREY, BC - Ian G. P. MacFarlane, of North Delta, BC and formerly of Moncton, passed away at The Surrey Memorial Hospital on Thursday, September 1, 2005 at the age of 54 after a lengthy illness. He was the loving son of Rita P. (McInnis) MacFarlane of Moncton and the late Douglas H. MacFarlane Q.C. Besides his mother, he is survived by sisters, Heather (Paul) Dupuis of Moncton, Christine MacFarlane (Ed Possberg) of Calgary, Geralyn MacFarlane (Donald Allison) of Rocky Mount, NC, Myriam Gillespie (James Pertle) of Calgary, and Andrea (Shawn) Rafferty of Moncton; brothers, Douglas (Ann) of Waterdown, ON, Robert (Maria) of Oakville, ON, Colin (Treva Jeffries) of Moncton, Bruce of Moncton, Hugh (Maureen) of Oakville, ON and Andrew (Katherine) of Calgary; also 25 nieces and nephews, who all had a special place in his heart. Ian was an employee of Tital Steel in Surrey, B.C. Ian moved to BC in 1978. He loved the outdoors and had a passion for mountain biking with his friends. Crystal blue eyes and a smile that you would never forget, he quickly became a friend of everyone he met. Ian enjoyed life to the fullest and never missed a chance to try something new. He continued to show his love of life by his amazing courage and spirit when he was ill. He was an inspiration to everyone in more ways than he will ever know. The times Ian most enjoyed was quality time with his family and friends at our summer home in Caissie Cape. He loved to gather his nieces and nephews and hike on the beach and teach them the wonders of life and nature. He was a wonderful story teller and had a way of making a room fill with laughter. He was only with us a short while, but he will be in our hearts forever. Resting at Tuttle Bros. Funeral Home, 171 Lutz St. on Friday, September 9, 2005 from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00pm. The funeral mass will be held at St. Augustines Roman Catholic Church on Saturday, September 10, 2005 at 10:00 am with Father Phil Mulligan officiating. Interment will be in Our Lady of Calvary Roman Catholic Cemetery. In Ian's memory, donations made to The NB Heart and Stroke Foundation or to the memorial of the donor's choice would be appreciated by his family.
