It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Robert Browne on March 1, 2009. Bob was born April 17, 1913 and was raised in the Findlater/Chamberlain area. He served in the Royal Canadian Air Force during WWII. In 1945 he married Thora Finlay and they had two children, Carmen in 1949 and Margaret in 1953. They moved to Regina in 1966, returning to Chamberlain in 1972. He was involved in many community activities and enjoyed time spent at their cabin at Lovering Lake. Later they moved to Moose Jaw, where Bob enjoyed many activities and socializing at both the Cosmos and Moose Jaw & District Seniors clubs. Bob loved sports and in his younger days in Chamberlain played hockey and baseball. Later in his life he spent many hours at sports days as well at Ross Wells Ball Park. He also had season tickets to the Moose Jaw Warriors for a number of years and enjoyed attending games here as well as on road trips with the Warriors booster club all over western Canada. Bob is predeceased by his parents, Jim and Laura Browne; brothers Ken and Claude; sisters Evelyn, Leila, Marguerite, Edith and Helen. He is survived by his wife Thora, son Carmen (Lynne), daughter Margaret (Walter), sister Dorothy Patterson, grandchildren Jennifer (Hart) Tejada, Jill (Troy) Fee, Logan Hjelte, James (Lana) Nation, great-grandchildren Jovie Tejada, Hayden and Emmett Fee, Grace and Lucas Nation, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. The Service of Remembrance will be held at W.J.Jones & Son Chapel on Saturday March 7, 2009 at 3:30 pm. Reverend David Moore will officiate. Memorialization will take place at Regina Memorial Gardens at a later date. Memorials to the Royal Canadian Legion Poppy Fund, 268 High St.E., Moose Jaw, S6H 1S8, or to a charity of choice, would be appreciated.
