Mr. Sergie Basarsky, age 93, of Moose Jaw and formerly of the Yorkton area, passed away peacefully on March 3, 2009. Sergie served in the RCAF during World War II, then farmed north of Yorkton for several years. During this time and in following years, he worked for the Gov’t of Sask. Sergie enjoyed cards, fishing, ball games, and get-togethers with their many friends and relatives in the Yorkton area. Predeceased by two brothers, Nick and Leon; and a sister, Val; Sergie is survived by his wife of 67 years, Anne; son, Peter, and grandson, Bill. The Funeral Service will be held at W.J.Jones & Son Chapelette on Saturday March 7, 2009 at 10:00 am. Reverend David Moore will officiate. Interment will follow at Rosedale Cemetery. Memorials to the Sask. Lung Association, 1231 8th St.E., Saskatoon, S7H 0S5, would be appreciated. In living memory of Sergie, a tree will be planted in Besant Park by W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Home.
