Georgie Mae Ogden

Georgie Mae Ogden 1922 - 2005 Georgie Mae Ogden of Riverview passed away peacefully at home on September 16, 2005, one day after her 83rd birthday, following a courageous battle with cancer. Born in Prosser Brook, NB and raised in Elgin, she was the daughter of the late Hartley and Mary (Geldart) Mitton. Georgie knew from the age of six that she was destined to be a teacher. She attended Normal School in Fredericton and began teaching two weeks before her 18 birthday. She taught for over 35 years, in various locations in southeastern New Brunswick in her earlier years, and then at West Riverview Elementary School, where she was Principal for seven years and Viceprincipal for several years following. Georgie loved her profession and approached it with the same dedication that she demonstrated in all aspects of her life. She was a long-time member of The Riverview Baptist Church. Georgie loved music, nature, and literature, and was devoted to her family and friends. She will be remembered for her tender heart, thoughtfulness, and generous spirit. Georgie will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by Robert, her devoted husband of 59 years; and by their daughter, Sharon of Moncton. She will be greatly missed by Ginny, her muchloved cat. She is survived by her five sisters, her eldest sister and best friend Verna Chambers (Wes) of Petitcodiac, Gertie Pollock (Guy) of Elgin, Laura Milton of Lower Coverdale, Shirley Vautour (Harvey) of Moncton, and Dorothy Tripp of Moncton; and four brothers, Herman of Chilliwack, BC, Russell (Evaline) of Anagance, Frank (Sharron) of Colpitts Settlement, and Gordon of Elgin. She is also survived by 23 nieces and nephews; and has enjoyed an especially close and loving relationship with her nieces, Barbara Dunfield (Wayne) of Moncton and Lois McGibbon (Bill) of Anagnace. She was predeceased by one sister, Lottie McCully, and two brothers, Vaughan and Ralph. Resting at Riverview Funeral Home, 214 Pine Glen Road, with visitation on Monday, September 19, from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00pm The Funeral Service will be held at Riverview Baptist Church on Tuesday, September 20, 2005 at 2:00 pm with Rev. Jonathan Gorham officiating. Interment will be in Alderwood Cemetery, Riverview. Donations made to The Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated by her family.
