Merla Yvonne Ayer 1944-2005 Sackville, N.B. - The death of Merla Y. Ayer, age 60, of Sackville, N.B. occurred on Wednesday, October 12, 2005 at the Moncton Hospital. Born on October 13, 1944 in Sackville, N.B., she was the daughter of Robert "Bud" Doherty of Sackville, N.B. and the late Yvonne (Phinney) Doherty. Merla was a member of the Main Street Baptist Church and was a former assistant leader of the Silver Lake 4-H Beef Club. She will be greatly missed by her father, Robert "Bud" Doherty of Sackville, N.B.; her brother, Bruce Doherty of Moncton, N.B.; her son, Jeff (Wanda) Ayer of Enfield, N.S.; her daughter, Shelly (Doug) Haley of Sackville, N.B. and three grandchildren, Matthew, Tara and Trieka. She was predeceased by her mother, Yvonne Doherty in 2003 and by an infant son, Derrick. Arrangements are entrusted to Campbell's Funeral Home, 89 Bridge Street, Sackville, N.B. (364-8188). Visitation will take place on Thursday, October 13, 2005 from 7 to 9 PM at Campbell's Funeral Home. The Funeral Service will take place at Campbell's Funeral Home, Sackville, on Friday, October 14, 2005 at 2 PM with Rev. Vernon Vickruck officiating. Burial will follow in the Sackville Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Merla may be made to the Crohn's and Colitis Foundation, Middle Sackville Baptist Church, Main Street Baptist Church or to the charity of ones choice.
