Joseph I. MacDonald
Joseph I. MacDonald 1924 - 2006 Joe MacDonald of Tenth Street, Moncton passed away on January 5th, 2006 at The Moncton Hospital following a brief illness. His family was by his side. Born January 31st, 1924 in Moncton, he was the son of the late Frank and Laura (Ward) MacDonald. He was predeceased by his brother, Stanley and sister, Eva Clarke. Joe is survived by his beloved wife, Miriam (Greer) MacDonald; one daughter, Judith MacDonald of Saint John; sons, Lloyd (Laura) and Peter (Lily) both of Vancouver; grandchildren, Stacy Beers of Sussex, Jodi (Joe) Simpson of Stanley, and Arron of Vancouver. He is survived by five great grandchildren. Joe was retired from the CNR, where he had been employed for 43 years. He served in WWII, was active for many years as an Officer in the Sea Cadets. In 2004 he was very active with the Sea Cadet 50 yr. Reunion in Moncton. He was the President of the CNR War Veterans and previous President of other service organizations. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion and the Air Force Club. Joe's family would like to express their sincere thanks and appreciation to Dr. Rubin; and especially to Dr. William Harper for his compassion and great assistance to the family; also the nurses of 4600 ward for their very dedicated care of him in the past several weeks. He always managed a smile for them. The family will receive visitors at Fair Haven Funeral Home, 1177 Salisbury Road, on Tuesday, January 10th, from 2 to 4pm and 7 to 9pm. A Legion Service will be held at 6:50pm, January 10th and is open to the public. The funeral will take place from the Chapel of Fair Haven Funeral Home at 2pm on Wednesday, January 11th, 2006. A reception will be held to celebrate Joe's life at the Royal Canadian Legion #6, Veterans Avenue, Moncton at approximately 2:45pm. Interment in Fairhaven Memorial Gardens.
