George Robert Murray ERB'S COVE, NB - With sadness, we announce the passing of George Robert Murray, Erb's Cove, on Sunday, January 22, 2006 at his daughter's home in Quispamsis. He was born August 18th, 1922 in College Grant, Pictou County, NS. A Veteran of World War II, he served with the RCAF. He worked for Canadian General Electric for over 25 years and then was a founding partner of Apex Industries, retiring in 1988. Some of Dad's happiest years were spent on their farm on the Belleisle Bay. He was a staunch supporter and longtime member of Portland and Hampton United Churches, and was involved in the construction of both churches. He is survived by one son, James, Erb's Cove; four daughters, Dorothy Murray (Siamak), Saint John, Liz Flogeras (Paul), Quispamsis, Heather Cathcart (Eric), Saint John, Mary Larabee (Brian), Kingston; one sister, Anne Gullikson, Bridgewater, NS; special family friend, Beth MacKenzie; 11 grandchildren and five great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife, Marguerite; daughter, Helen; grandson, James; and three brothers. Dad is resting at Reid's Funeral Home (832-5541), 1063 Main Street, Hampton, with visiting Tuesday, January 24, 7 to 9pm and Wednesday, January 25 from 2 to 4pm and 7 to 9pm. The Funeral will be held from Hampton United Church, Thursday, January 26, 2006 at 11:00 am, with a reception to follow. Interment will be at a later time. In lieu of flowers, donations to Hospice Saint John, Hampton United Church Refugee Fund and the Hampton United Church Stained Glass Fund, would be appreciated by the family.
