John W. Burnes

John W. Burnes 1928 - 2006 John (Jack) W. Burnes, 77, of Riverview surrounded by his loving family passed away at the Moncton Hospital on Thursday, February 16, 2006, following a courageous battle with Cancer. Born in Moncton, Jack was the son of the Late Clarence and Zelda (Wilson) Burnes. Jack was a retired Passenger Sales Agent for CNR and Via Rail (36 years). He attended The Moncton Wesleyan Church and was a member of The Wesleyan Church Senior's Group and C.N. Pensioner's Association. In his younger years Jack played baseball and was a pitcher for the Dieppe Cardinals (1946). Jack was an avid outdoors person who enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was a very devoted family man and his family came first. Jack will be sadly missed by his wife of 55 years Dorothy (Quelch) Burnes; his children, Judy Stiles (Les), Riverview, Karen Hart (Richard), Moncton, John (Patsy), Dartmouth, NS; grandchildren, Tanya (Mike), Terra (Trevor), Mike (Keri), Matt, Laura, Tyler, Geoffrey; great grandchildren, Taylor, Katelyn, Sarah, Scott; brothers, Thomas (Vi), Pointe du Chene, Richard (Eunice), Lakeville, Westmorland Co.; aunts, Marguerite Stratton, Moncton, Dorothy Medlen, Ottawa; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Predeceased by his sister Lois Stultz (1963). Visitation at Ferguson Knowles Funeral Home, 1657 Mountain Road, Moncton (858-1995), Sunday 2 to 4, 7 to 9. Funeral Service at Ferguson Knowles Funeral Home Chapel, Monday, February 20, 2006, 1:30pm. Pastor Jay Guptil officiating. Reception following the service. Interment, Wheaton Settlement Cemetery.
