Florence Newcomb

Florence Newcomb 1909 - 2006 Florence Newcomb, 96, passed away on April 25, 2006 at The Moncton Hospital with her granddaughter Carla by her side, with whom Florence has resided with for the past 15 years. She was born in Mountville, Albert County, NB, on June 20, 1909 the daughter of the late Clarence and Sarah (Cruickshank) Moore. Florence was a teacher in the Albert County area for over 25 years. She loved children and enjoyed teaching very much. She was a member of the Hopewell Cape Baptist Church. Florence also enjoyed times she spent in her own home, doing home cooking, sewing, knitting and spending time in her garden. She was a kind, caring and gentle lady, she especially cherished times spent with her family. Florence will never be forgotten and will live on in the hearts of her family forever. She will be deeply missed by her daughter, Lorna MacDonald (Winston) of Fredericton; son, David Newcomb (Patti) of Port Elgin, Ontario; also by her precious grandchildren, Carla (Robert), Jeff (Kathy), Greg (Tammy), Terri-Dawn, Tracy, Ronnie, Laurie (Joel), Christopher and Karin; her great grandchildren and by her great great grandchild. Florence was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Besides her parents she was predeceased by her husband, Gilbert Newcomb; two sons, Charles and Ronald; two sisters, Helena Hopper and Glendeen Wilson; two brothers, Harold Moore and Charles Moore. Honoring Florence's own wishes there will be no visitation. The funeral service will be held at the Lower Cape Baptist Church, Lower Cape where Florence attended when she was growing up, on Thursday, April 27, 2006 at 1pm with Rev. Harold MacDonald officiating. Interment will be held in the Mountain View Cemetery, Lower Cape. Following the service the family will be meeting with relatives and friends in the church basement for further fellowship and refreshments. Donations to the Canadian Cancer Society, Lower Cape Baptist Church or to a charity of the donor's choice would be greatly appreciated by the family.
