Ronald Haynes
Ronald Haynes 1922 - 2006 ESSEX, ENGLAND - Ron Haynes, of Clacton-on-Sea, Essex, England, ended a long and dignified battle with prostate cancer on June 3, 2006 passing away on a beautiful spring evening with family at his side, at St. Helena Hospice, his haven of peace. Born in Priors Hardwick, Warwickshire, Ron was the son of the late Walter and Rose Haynes. Ron was a veteran of the Second World War, enlisting with the Royal Norfolk Regiment in 1940, later transferring to the Royal Army Service Corps, serving as a transport driver. After landing on the Normandy Beaches shortly after D-Day, he served in France, Belgium, Holland and Germany. Ron spent most of his career as a Sales Manager in the plastics industry. He was active in a number of com munity organizations and the St. Bartholomew's Parish Council, Holland-on-Sea Cubs and Scouts and the Thorpe Bowls Club all benefited from his contribution, the latter bestowing upon him an Honorary Life Membership in recognition of his outstanding service. In addition, his work for the Club was recognized by the Essex County Bowling Association. Ron enjoyed a long and happy retirement filled with travelling, gardening and bowls, but most of all he enjoyed time with his family and friends. He was dear husband and best friend to his to wife of 53 years, Brenda; generous and loving father to Martin (Susan), Moncton, Duncan (Julie), Nuneaton, England; proud Grandad to Carol, Cheryl, Brenda, Daniel and Matthew and Great-Grandad to Liam. Also surviving are brothers Len, Dagenham and Bob (Dorothy), Braintree, England and several nieces and nephews, as well as his extended Canadian family of which he was so fond. A celebration of Ron's life will be held June 13, 2006 followed by cremation. Family flowers only by request. If desired, donations in Ron's memory to the St. Helena Hospice, Colchester, Essex, the Prostate Cancer Research Foundation, or any charity of the donor's choice would be appreciated by the family.
