J. Stewart Burke PORT ELGIN, NB - The death of J. Stewart Burke, age 82, of Port Elgin, occurred suddenly at his home on Monday, July 31, 2006. Born in Georgetown, PEI in 1923, he was a son of the late William and Laura (Poulton) Burke. Stewart was a veteran of the Second World War, serving from 1939-1945 in Canada, the United Kingdom and Continental Europe. He was a lifelong member of the Cape Tormentine Royal Canadian Legion, Branch # 81. Throughout his life he worked as a fisherman and a plumber. He will be sadly missed by his wife, Helen of Port Elgin; a son, Larry (Linda), Port Elgin; four grandsons, Jamie, Aaron, Michael and Jason; five great grandchildren, Courtney, Sebastian, Skyler, Dylan and Zachary; three sisters, Theresa (Don) Boyd, Welland, ON, Ramona Richardson, Welland, ON, and Mary Long, New Glasgow, NS. He was predeceased by a son, Robert; three sisters, Florence, Dorothy, and Mabel; and a brother, William. The remains are resting at the Jones Funeral Home, 3 West Main Street, Port Elgin, NB (538-2241) with visiting hours on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. Funeral Service will be held from the funeral home on Thursday, August 3, 2006 at 2 pm, Father Allison Carroll officiating. Burial will follow in the Fernwood Cemetery. Branch #81, Cape Tormentine Royal Canadian Legion will be holding a memorial service on Wednesday night at 7:30 pm at the funeral home. www.jonesfuneralhome.ca
