Eileen Marilyn Richards, 92, of Truro, passed away Sunday, March 8, 2009 in Cedarstone Enhanced Care, Truro.
Born in Truro, from a family of nine, she was a daughter of the late John J. and Ruby Etta (Grue) Fielding.
Her earlier working life started at Lewis Hat and Hosiery Factory, in the '50s she worked at the Sugar Bowl on Inglis Street, in the days of the first KFC and the "soft" ice cream. For 20 years she was a second mother to
numerous students that boarded at "124" from the old Teacher's College, Success Business College and Lucien's School of Beauty. Eileen was a member of First United Church, Truro, as well as a member of Unit "H".
She is survived by daughters Sharon (Lloyd) Smith, Kelvin Grove, P.E.I. Beth Audas, Truro; grandchildren Shannon (Paul) Snively, P.E.I., Kirsh (Kennedy) Smith, P.E.I., Vanessa (Alain) Michaud, Quebec City, Sean (Lorelei) Audas,
Bedford, Jennifer Audas (Nathan Beaudet), Halifax; nine great-grandchildren; sister Audrey Russell of New Glasgow.
She was predeceased by brothers Alfred Fielding, Charles Fielding, Jack Fielding; sisters, Lillian Gelling, Elsie Smith, Elizabeth MacKenzie and Hazel Munt.
Visitation will be 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday evening and funeral service 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 11, in Mattatall~Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young St., Truro. Rev. Jay Ettinger will officiate with burial at a later date in Terrace Hill Cemetery, Truro. Family flowers only. Donations in Eileen's memory may be made to Alzheimer's Society.
