John Charles Colpitts HALIFAX, NS - John Charles Colpitts, 56, Halifax, passed away Saturday, November 11, 2006, in the New Halifax Infirmary, QEII. Born August 26, 1950 in Moncton, N.B., John was a son of Laura Eleanor (Young) Colpitts and the late Charles Freeman Colpitts. After attending university in New Brunswick, John entered the Information Technology sector and worked in Saint John, N.B., Fredericton and Toronto, before settling in Halifax, where he was employed by Bolands, SHL Systemhouse/EDS and most recently Sierra Systems as a project manager. John lived his life to the fullest and with his long-time soul mate and wife of over five years, Faye Hicks, he enjoyed many outdoor activities, including downhill skiing, cycling and sailing. Sailing was a passion for John, especially when he was competing in a regatta. Together, John and Faye took home many trophies from their days of competitive racing events. John also loved to travel and his work took him to many cities in Canada, the United States and Britain. His favourite vacation location was the island of St. Martin, where he and Faye shared their wedding vows and many wonderful vacations. John was a member of the Project Management Institute (PMI) and the Bedford Basin Yacht Club. John will be sadly missed by his wife, Faye; brothers, Robert Caldwell (Dawn) and David Bruce; nephew, Luke; niece, Rachel, and numerous cousins, family and friends. John was predeceased by his father, Charles. Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday in J.A. Snow Funeral Home, 2666 Windsor St., Halifax. A memorial service will be held Friday, November 17, at 2 p.m. in J.A. Snow Chapel. Burial at a later date.
