We regret to announce the sudden passing of John Garfield ‘Gary’ Kieley on March 7, 2009, at his home in Sydney Mines.
Born in Sydney Mines, he was the son of the late Michael Joseph and Angela (Young) Kieley. He was a member of St. Pius X parish, Sydney Mines. He worked at Marine Atlantic for the past 35 years. He had a great love for his cars.
He is survived by his sisters, Cindy (Mitchel) Wilson, Rose (Gordon) Donovan, Pat (Paul) King, Lorraine Ackmentins, Dorothy (Robert) Watson, and Diane (Matthew) Todd, Aunt Margaret Kieley, and a number of nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his special friend, Sharon Kirton, Sydney.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Michael; sisters, Joan and Theresa; niece, Joann, and nephews, Brian and Kevin.
Visitation for Gary Kieley will be held in the J. M. Jobes Funeral Home on Wednesday, March 11, 2009, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.. The funeral mass will take place on Thursday at 10 a.m. in St. Pius X church, Sydney Mines, with Fr. Hughie MacNeil officiating. A reception will follow in the parish hall.
