Dorothy McConell Simkins

Dorothy McConell Simkins 1913-2007 Dorothy McConnell Simkins, 93, of Riverside-Albert went to be with her Lord on January 8, 2007. She passed away suddenly at home with her family by her side. Dorothy was born in Albert, N.B. on March 12, 1913 the daughter of the late James N. and Esther (McConnell) Smith. She was a member of the Riverview Baptist Church where she enjoyed going to many different events and outings with the church members, they always included her and would pick her up whenever anything was going on, this meant a lot to her. She was a lifetime member of the Women's Missionary Society. She was also a member of the Friendship Senior Citizens, Riverside-Albert and a lifetime member of the Albert Women's Institute. Her passion was music, she loved to sing and would break out in song at any given time. She enjoyed the many sing songs at her home. She also had a great faith and loved being with people and especially young people often praying for those around her. She was a very special lady who will never be forgotten. She will be deeply missed by her three daughters, Ellen Faye Berry of Riverside-Albert, Rosamund Woodworth (Alden) of Riverside-Albert, Dawn Patterson (Bruce) of Ontario; son, Stephen Simkins (Lorna) of Ontario; her 13 precious grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild. She will also be missed by several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Thomas Simkins and by three sisters, Odessa Smith, Bessie Dykes and Jessie Smith. A Memorial Service to celebrate Dorothy's life will be held at the Hopewell Hill Baptist Church, Hopewell Hill on Friday, January 12, 2007 at 1pm with Pastor Paul Steeves of the Hopewell Hill Baptist and Pastor Jonathan Gorham of the Riverview Baptist Church officiating. Interment will be held in the Hopewell Cemetery, Hopewell Hill, in the spring. The family will be meeting with relatives and friends following the service for further fellowship and for refreshments in the church basement. For those who wish donations to the Fundy Youth Project or to the charity of the donor's choice would be appreciated by the family.
