J. Vincent Chambers 1922-2007 FIVE ISLANDS, NS - J. Vincent, Chambers, 84, Five Islands, Colchester Co., passed away Wednesday, January 17, 2007, in Colchester Regional Hospital, Truro. Born in Mechanic Settlement, Kings, Co., N.B., he was a son of the late Edward A. and Alice (Geldart) Chambers. He was a member of Peniel United Church, Five Islands where he served as an elder for several years. He also served as fire chief of the Five Islands and District Fire Department. He was well-known throughout the area for his teams of horses and his participation in numerous parades and exhibitions. He is survived by his wife, the former Grace Killen; stepdaughter, Marilyn Smith (Leon), Five Islands; stepson, Ronald Nickerson (Wanda), Oakville, Ont.; son-in-law, Lawrence Martin, Elgin, N.B.; sisters, Annie Steeves, The Glades, N.B., Hilda MacPherson, Petitcodiac, N.B., Bertha Sketchley (Bill), Powell River, B.C.; brother, King Chambers, Manitoulin, Ont.; sister-in-law, Phyllis Chambers, Petitcodiac, N.B., Betty Chambers, Moncton, N.B.; brother-in-law, Robert Graham, Ontario; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren and two great great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his first wife, Edith (Nickerson) Chambers; stepdaughter, Shirley Martin; stepson, James Nickerson; sisters, Doris Chambers, Leah Graham, Helen McKewon; brothers, Emeri, Henry, Alton, Edward. Funeral service 2 p.m. Saturday, January 20, 2007 in Peniel United Church, Five Islands. Rev. Florence Antle-Brison officiating. Burial in Five Islands Methodist Cemetery.
