Melvin Lloyd Knowlton
Melvin Lloyd Knowlton 1920-2007 HILLSBOROUGH, NB - Melvin Lloyd Knowlton, 86, of Hillsborough passed away on January 25, 2007 at the Moncton Hospital. Melvin was born in New Horton, on July 27, 1920 the son of the late Jesse and Mary (Anderson) Knowlton. He was a grader operator and welder working for the Provincial Government then going to work for Frizzell Brothers until his retirement. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch # 32, Hillsborough and a member of the Albert Mines Senior Citizens. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and also enjoyed playing cards. Mel was a quiet man who loved to spend time with his immediate family and his many relatives and friends. He will be fondly remembered by all who knew him. He will be deeply missed by his loving and devoted wife of 62 years, Mabel (Hawkes) Knowlton; his two sons, Lloyd Knowlton (late Barb Darrah) of Chiliwacke, B.C. and Lewis Knowlton (Tracey Douthwright) of Red Cliff, Alberta; his grandchildren, Ronald (Roxy), Kevin (Emma), Natalie and Logan; his precious two great granddaughters, Cassandra and Daphne; his three sisters, Greta Brewer of Ontario, Helen Nelson of Moncton, Cora Budd (Arnold) of New Westminster, B.C.; sisters-in-law, Lavinia Knowlton of Hillsborough and Jenny Knowlton of Lower Coverdale. He will also be deeply missed by his several nieces and nephews and all of Mable's family, he was a very special brother-in-law. Besides his parents he was predeceased by an infant son, Leroy; sisters, Pearl, Laura, Sadie and Ruby; brothers, Edward, Perry, Elmo and Morris. He will be resting at the Albert County Funeral Home with visitation on Saturday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9pm. The funeral service will be held at the Albert County Funeral Home on Sunday, January 28, 2007 at 2pm. Interment will be held in the Mountain View Cemetery, Lower Cape in the spring. The family will be meeting with relatives and friends following the service for further sharing of memories and for refreshments at the funeral home.
