Laura Edith (Edith) MacLeod 1920 - 2007 HOUSTON, BC - Died peacefully at the home of her son, Greg, near Houston, BC, on Sunday, January 21st, 2007 in her 87th year. She was born August 22nd, 1920, the second daughter of the late Gertrude Isabel Noble and Henry Fisher McMurtrie of New Maryland and Springhill, NB. She married Ronald James MacLeod of Moncton, NB on December 29th, 1945. She is predeceased by her husband Ronald (in 1992); elder sister, Muriel Thompson (in 2005); and by her granddaughter, Sarah Meyer (in 1999). She is mourned by sisters, Joyce Rickard (Ernest) of Barkers Point, and Lois Cameron of Fredericton; brother, Eric McMurtrie of Springhill; by her children, Carolyn Meyer (Wiebe) of Williamstown, ON, Greg MacLeod (Marnie) of Houston, BC, and Andrew MacLeod (Laura) of Smithers, BC; and by her grandchildren, Paul, and Laura Meyer, Anne, Kerry, Jay and Ian MacLeod, and Caitlin, Megan, and Elin MacLeod. Edith was a graduate of Fredericton High School and NB Normal School, and taught for many years at Hillsborough Consolidated School. She was a member of the Women's Institute and loved to quilt and knit. As a member of First Hillsborough Baptist Church for over 40 years, she was especially involved in the Sunday school and choir. For the last 15 years she was an active senior member of Houston Christian Reformed Church, Houston, BC. A woman of strong Christian faith and dedication to her family, she will be greatly missed. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, February 1st, 2007 at First Hillsborough Baptist Church, Main St., Hillsborough NB, at 2pm. The family will receive visitors before and after the service at the church. Private interment will take place at Fairhaven Memorial Gardens, Moncton, NB.
