Retired Justice of the Supreme Court of Newfoundland, died at St. John’s on March 6, 2009, at the age of 89 years. His wife, Elizabeth, predeceased him in 1998. He is survived by his daughter, Jenifer at St. John’s; his sons Nick (Marie Matheson) at Gander, Chris (Linda) at Port au Port West, and Jon (Norah Lee) at St. John’s; and his grandchildren Robin, Hilary and Katie Soper, Emma, Sarah and Philip Hann, Lynsey and Graham Soper. Funeral service will be held at Gower Street United Monday, March 9, at 2 p.m. At a later date, interment will be in the Bartlett Cemetery, Brigus, where Elizabeth’s ashes are also interred. Those who wish to do so, may make a memorial contribution to the Honourable P. Lloyd Soper and Elizabeth Soper Endowment Fund, Sir Wilfred Grenfell College, Corner Brook. Friends may visit the family at Barrett’s Funeral Home, 328 Hamilton Avenue between the hours of 7-9 p.m. Saturday, March 7, and 2-4 p.m. Sunday, March 8.
